Offensive Organization
Offensive Organization means our team has possession of the ball. We have objectives in each moment that we must achieve and our main principle (behavior) helps us achieve that moment objective.
Main Principle - Possess to Attack
Our main principle (behavior) for this moment is to possess the ball to attack (thru direct and/or combination play). In order to achieve the main principle sub principles have to be applied.
Sub Principles (Possession + Attacking Patterns = Possess to Attack)
Sub principles help us achieve main principles. These are the principles we practice during our weekly training sessions. Players must acquire these skills in order achieve the main principle and moment objective.
1. Possession Principles (Passing + Position = Possession)
Possession principles are behaviors that maintain ball possession. Quick passing, good support angles, & passing to attract the defense are key actions in maintaining ball possession. We must be able to establish possession before we can attack.
2. Attacking Patterns
Attacking patterns are collective behaviors of players. These behaviors are known as combination play. Players must be able to recognize when to apply these combinations. Examples of combination play are;
Wall passes
Up, back, thru
Up, back, thru + Wall pass
Overlaps
Underlaps
